We are staying at the Hilton Double Tree on Jon street near the Lambreth Bridge over River Thames. It seems to be a very popular hotel for the Americans probably the brand name. ( just a diversion I remember when I stayed at the first Double Tree I remember it was in Dallas and the Boston Red Sox baseball team was all in the lobby waiting for rooms and Johnny Podrres was in a large stakes gin game with someone. I don't know what year it was but I remember talking with Carl Yastremski and just another baseball note I do remember Jackie Robinson playing but I enjoyed "42" as my movie selection on the trip over).
Anyway we slept 12 hours and are ready to go on the "Big Bus Tour" to get our bearings in London. Actually we plan to go with another brand "original bus tour" supposedly same program come closer to our hotels and is 2 L cheaper.
Included in our price is breakfast. It is a modern new hotel rooms are smaller than US but very functional and nice and the breakfast area is very modern and spacious. In honor of my time in the Italian meats business I started with a slice of mortadella and other sliced meats and a bowl of fruit which was juicy and tasty. Followed up by fried eggs, English bacon (similar to Canadian) and sausage link (bangers). The sides were sliced porabella mushrooms and a small stewed tomato and unique baked beans ( like Campbell's) All the while a hot pot of black coffee. The bad news was that the hash brown patties had flour (gluten) so Charlotte passed them up but we learned via a smart phone search tha May starch found in the yogurt cups was POTATO not wheat so tomorrow Charlotte can have some with her fruit. The folks next to us were from San Diego and are leaving out of Southhampton today for a 14 day Celebrity cruise to St. Petersburg.
We are meeting Lyle and Marlene at a bus stop before 9:30 PM so I will post this and spend a little time with "the Times" the free paper I selected instead of USA Today. I have only read so far that The archbishop of Canterberry has decided not to serve as vice chair of the Animal rights organization (too many charity boards....but real reason is that the organization has been to quick to sue farmers and others for animal abuse.....the bishop says he loves animals but people are more important......I think I like the Bishop. Also I got to get caught up on futbol the Primer league starts this week-end but I am going to resist the app which lets you know each goal scored.
til later
